Expensive Lunch

I did it. I bought a new rug for my Living Room so that I can put my more traditional rug in the Bedroom. I have been scouring the internet for months, and today I made the commitment. Me Likey!
BTW...
I'm not doing the whole red and blue thing like the picture, i'll probably accent with Orange, Red and Apple Green patterned pillows.

Chocolate covered cherries

The weekend came and went so quickly, but when does it not?? Friday night, got some nice girl time in at Bethany's house over pizza and wine with Michelle, Karrie and Alicia....on Saturday caught up with Lauren Rew, Rachel Miller and Lindsey Childers (met ms charley finally!) for a lunch at Loafin, which brought back a lot of high school memories. It's always so nice to really catch up - aka gossip- in person.
On Saturday night, a large group of friends went out to dinner at Grubs to watch the Hog vs Kentucky game (definitely no comment!), before the Gavin Degraw concert at George's. I have been a pretty BIG fan for awhile, and his live performance was just as amazing as I had hoped! I for sure danced it up!
One unexpected surprise was the really cool warm up band from South Carolina. They are called NeedToBreathe. I bought a few of their Cd's and am hooked! Check them out on itunes. They told me a lot of their songs are on TV shows lately (the Hills, can't remember what else)
Soo long story short-
Suzanne and I decided that Saturday was the night to live out our dream (and secret obsession with musicians) and act like band-aids. So we met the warm up band and somehow convinced them to come out with us. All in all, I need to go to more concerts...George's is having a great line up in November (tim reynolds, corey smith, robert earl keen, big smith) so let's get a group together and go!

I Heart Fall

The weather has been delicious lately, warm enough in the day for walks in the park, but cool enough at night for a lightweight jacket. As I ran with Wrigley around Wilson park today, I noticed that the leaves are just starting to turn and there is a slight crispness to the air. I began thinking about all the reasons, besides the weather, that I love fall....

The natural palette of rich jewel tones colors; deep auburn, golden yellow, and pumpkin orange make me feel cozy. The farmers market this Saturday was bustling with people, pumpkins and squash. It seemed like everyone was grabbing fabulous bouquets of flowers. Here are some shots of the flowers I gobbled up and then re-gifted to my mom on Sunday after a day of enjoyment.

Isn't this fuzzy flower great! I think it looks like a sister to sea coral.

I anticipate all year for the use of my favorite food -Pumpkin- in about every dish (pumpkin muffins, bread, bagel smear, you name it, I love it). I already made pumpkin spice bread, but am dreaming about some warm pie a la mode with vanilla bean ice cream.

There is something about football and tailgating that puts everyone in a good mood. I am really looking forward to our next home game (especially since we beat Auburn this past weekend!!). It might be cool enough for one of my red jackets! Or at least my red close toe pumps. Don't laugh, I still dress up for games, it's a habit that will probably never die.

And finally, I feel like right now is the calm before the holiday craze. Nobody is frantically shopping for holiday gifts, and the music hasn't started blaring around town yet. It just seems quiet and still. I like it like that, and I bet we only have a few more weeks to fully enjoy it, so I plan to spend as much time outside as possible! I actually started shopping for a bike this weekend, still unsure if a road or mountain is right for me...but I can't wait to get one. Any pointers or suggestions?

Southsiiiide Class of '98

Last weekend we celebrated Matt's 10 year High School reunion in Fort Smith. The weekend was full of fun festivities. Friday night you could have a tour of the school before the Rogers/Southside football game. Unfortunately (wink) I couldn't make the tour, but I did get there in time for the game. I had forgotten how much I LOVE high school sports. The players (and fans) are so enthusiastic. They were all about jumping around and high fives. I also noticed that the cheer/pom uniforms haven't gotten much better over the years, and the puffys (or so Fayetteville called the warm ups) are still from the mid 90's.

After the game, we went to Landrys, a bar that had a really fun blues band, and caught up with a lot of his class mates.

Matt's friends wives!

On Saturday, there was suppose to be a "family" picnic (haha), which was canceled due to the Texas/Arkansas game that was rescheduled. That evening at about 7 we headed to the 21 Westend where the actual reunion was. A little band played music in the background, and the food was really good (as the drinks as always delish)...I think everyone had fun catching up, and it all made me really excited for mine in two years!Matts madre took this photo, and it sort of felt like prom

Thoughts and Prayers!

Please keep Josh Knight in your thoughts today! He's having surgery on his knee (tore some ligament/muscle/maybe PCL) during a football game two weeks ago. The doctors are hopeful that he will be able to walk by their wedding in November, but the actual recovery will take 6 months or more. Send lots of good vibes for a speedy recovery his and Andrea's way!
