Wedding gown, circa 1940's?

No matter how old I am, I've always LOVED playing dress up. Over Thanksgiving, as we were all laying around the living room of my aunt Jan's house after our big meal, she mentioned that she somehow had my grandmother Jean's preserved Wedding Dress! None of us had seen it in person but I've always loved the pictures of her in it. Pale blue was the color of the season and this thing is something else! It was so heavy, and she was itty bitty tiny (none of the buttons were fastened in the back). Check out that headpiece! Rosettes galore, and dyed pale blue veil- simply spectacular. Since it was preserved right after the wedding, it was in perfect condition! My grandfather even remembers traveling back to Marshall Fields in Chicago to have it "boxed up". He was so cute, you could see the memories flooding back to him. I wish my grandmother had been there to see us.

SO all my newly married friends, if for no other reason than your grand kids will get a total kick out of trying on your fashionable dress, you should definitely save it! It brought a lot of laughs to our family that night.

I guess I should get mine cleaned and put away. It's just been hanging in the closet with dirt on the bottom for 8 months. Oops. Thanks for the motivation!!

You're hilarious! Now you won't have to buy a wedding dress and you can knock out "the something old, something borrowed, and something blue" in one shot!

I love that headpiece! Amazing :) I'm thinking that should be Lauren's 'something borrowed' for sure.
