Does anyone out there have experience re-doing furniture, as in wood varnished furniture that needs a new paint job? I really like this look, sort of glossy and smart. Does that require a sanding, paint job, and glossy top coat?
I have a tired plain dresser that with a little paint, and new knobs would be a keeper, not to mention add a spark of color to my bedroom.
Shoot me any inspirational websites or advice on where to find cool knobs :)
Mucho Gracias, Em

in my experience you will need to seriously give it a sanding! you can buy a high gloss paint, but ask the paint people and they will tell you! also knobs galore in binders at KD...you might also try knobsforless.com
I know nothing about refurnishing furniture, but I have painted a few pieces of my own. I used a liquid sander, that way you don't have to sand the by hand. You just paint it on, let dry then prime...I also found a spray primer that worked great...then paint then apply a high gloss/lacquer finish. You can find all this at Lowe's. You might want to ask Kirsten at Riffraff...she would defintely know and is super nice! Good luck!
I'm your girl. You do need to sand and prime. Oil based paint is key for painting wood... Check etsy.com for knobs.
I found this website and I LOVE everything in it! Check it out and I'm sure you'll find your answer: http://www.thisyounghouse.com/how-to/
